Integrated newsroom makes cooperation possible

Two rooms for radio, one newsroom for TV and a meeting room for print, all in the same place. This is the integrated newsroom at Universitat Pompeu Fabra, where a workshop was held during the last day of the conference.

During the workshop Euromain.net: Experiences on implementing an international multimedia network of student correspondents experience from the integrated journalism in the university were going to be shared and discussed. But the participants never came that far. Instead the workshop turn into a guided tour around the integrated newsroom.

“The room is designed so the students can have direct interactions with each other”, Irene Da Rocha, project manager says. The room has been used for five years and is built to make cooperation between different media classes possible. During the tour the participants at the conference got to learn how the students at the university works with news.
